For Sistakaranams in Hyderabad and Bangalore, Prof. Dr. Chowdari Prasad needs no introduction. Indeed, he is well known all over in social circles as a very active person connecting with our community at various places in India that he has lived or visited. And, of late, as someone who is connecting Sistakaranams all over the world, thanks to his internet savvy ways.

Professionally, he started his career in Andhra Bank, in April 1971, and moved to SBI, Hyderabad in Nov 1971 where he grew to be Chief Manager in 1990, gaining exposure in general banking, foreign exchange and agricultural finance working at Hyderabad and Mumbai. He retired voluntarily in April 1993.

He worked as Vice President of three companies viz., Wonder Granites Pvt Ltd., Leafin Financial Services Ltd and The Vysya Bank Leasing Ltd., between 1993 and 1999 before switching to academics. He started as Associate Professor cum Chairman-Admissions and moved up as Professor and Dean (Planning and Development) at TAPMI, Manipal; worked as Professor cum Registrar at Alliance Business School; as Dean (P&D) at IFIM Business School; as Dean, RIMS Bangalore; and as Academic Advisor of Shantha Group of Institutions, Bangalore during the years between 1999 and 2019.

He presented / published 30 research papers at national and international conferences on topics like banking, management education, entrepreneurship, etc. He was a member of Board of Studies of several institutions and editorial member of journals. He is life member of IIBF, AIMA, ISTD and SBI Pensioners Association.

Prof Chowdari Prasad has been conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Commerce by University of Swahili, Panama, in 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand.

He was active in Lions Club, Manipal for 15 years and was President for 2013-14.

He has travelled widely to Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Luxemburg, Morocco, Shanghai & Australia.

His areas of interest are Academic Administration, Banking, Financial Services, Business Laws, Entrepreneurship, Micro Finance, Rural Development, Industrial Relations, Branding & Promotions, Business Law, Ranking/Accreditation of B-Schools.

Dr. Chowdari Prasad is a good singer. He often indulges in Karaoke singing, and has posted them in YouTube ("Chowdari Prasad" - YouTube) as also StarMaker App (close to 3,000 songs in Hindi and Telugu; Solo, Ghazals and Duets). 

His Family

Dr. Prasad’s wife Mrs Ganga Prasad, BSc., BEd., is a retired Principal and now engaged in Online Teaching of CueMaths to young students.  Their only daughter Mrs Sravanthi Chowdari, BE, MBA, married to Mr Krishna Kumar, worked as a Marketing Manager for five years in two leading companies in Bangalore.  They now live in Melbourne, Australia.
His parents are late Sri Chowdari Shanmukha Rao & Smt Chowdari Sugunavathi. His native place is Kotabommali in Srikakulam district, AP. He was born at Salur town, on 19 Oct 1952.
